A BABY IS…

GODS OPINION THAT LIFE SHOULD GO ON!

-Carl Sandburg

Introducing Gods newest angel on earth… Matthew Ronald Gerry Forward.  Congratulations Deline and Gary.  He is beautiful and he will most certainly bring the ultimate joy and reward to you in this life.

I was blessed to be able to photograph Deline during her pregnancy and now to capture her sweet baby boy.  He was such an amazing baby, not to mention beautiful.  Just like his parents.  It makes me yearn for those days back.  They pass so quickly and I would do anything to have captured my children in this way.  To imprint that image of "newness" on my brain for eternity.  I am glad I was able to do this for you two.  You are so deserving of this gift.  I know you will treasure him as he was meant to be.

“God has plans which mortals don’t understand. He rests in the womb when the new baby forms. Whispers the life dream to infinitesimal cells. It is God who lies under the thoughts of man. He is cartilage. Memory.”

Can’t Resist

Sharing my two.  It isn’t easy to get them to sit and let me take a picture.  There may have been a few bribes involved to get this one.  But I’m not saying any more.  :)  Do you see the little *smirk* on my daughters face!  So her.  And Keagan is a bit too serious. But I will take it.

I will be having this enlarged and placed in our newly painted family room.  People always think that anything bigger then an 8X10 is too large.  Actually 8X10 is not considered a wall portrait.  It is only when you see an 11X14 or 20X24 on a wall do you realize that it works.  I always hope that my clients view my images as art.  And art, I believe, belongs on a wall.  I will share pictures of what this image looks like on my wall when I have it printed and returned to me.  So check back to see.

Presently I am strictly an on-location photographer.  I will however be working on creating a studio here at my house for the fall/winter.  It will be primarily a natural light studio.  This image was taken with mostly natural light and a bit of fill from a flash.  The only reason for using a flash was due to it being rainy outside and needing a bit of light to fill in their right side.  I don’t believe one could tell I used a flash, and that was my goal.

There are times in our lovely Canadian winters, that the weather does not cooperate.  Natural light is not always plentiful.  So I will be using some studio lighting when necessary for my indoor studio session.  This can be done without looking like "studio lights" and it will be my main objective when working in this environment.  I will let everyone know when my studio is available as an option for booking.

My main goal is to continue to keep things fresh and natural looking and I will continue to book mostly on location shoots at my clients home or a location of their choice.

Families, Families, Families

Lots of families booking with me right now.  It is the season with Christmas coming and the beautiful fall leaves beginning to arrive.  I love this time of year.  I also love taking a family to the park, letting them play and be themselves and capturing them as they are. Their life, a glimpse into who they are.  Not posed, or contrived, just them being them!

This is a sneak peak for Sarah into her session this past weekend.  I am still working away Sarah so hang in there.

Having fun near the end.  I find it is when I get my best pictures.

the kids collected acorns the entire time we were at the park.  At the end Gilles showed his son Sebastian what they looked like inside.

Loved discovering this tatoo.  His son’s name.  I only noticed it when I started to proof.  Very cool.  Gilles is in the military and I am so proud of our men that serve our country!B11duocloseweb

One of AngelicaStoryboard2web.  She was totally sweet with a ton of personality and attitude.

Thanks B168x10bwweb Sarah.  I had a great time hanging out with your wonderful family!

Weddings and Babies

I had a chance to photograph a wedding recently.  Melissa is someone I met through scrapbooking and just adore her.  She is such a doll and asked me (well ok, kind of begged me) to shoot her wedding.   LOL.  She likes my style and so I agreed.  Hesitantly as weddings were something I was not convinced I wanted to do.  As a photographer…you have one shot!  One shot at one of the biggest days in that couples life.  You mess up and your toast.  You can’t reshoot.  You can’t "redo" something like a wedding.  If I have a bad portrait session I can just reschedule and shoot it again.  NOT A WEDDING!!  It is also a huge amount of work, energy and time commitment.  I admit that I adore the "story telling" that it offers but after shooting this wedding as the sole photographer I have decided to hang up my wedding photography hat for now.  I’m not saying "never".  Just not right now.  I guess I really like my weekends!  :)

Having said all that I still had a blast shooting this wedding.  Melissa and her new hubby Jamie are some of the sweetest couples I have met.  You can see some images from their engagement shoot below.  They are so easy going, laid back and were wonderful to work with.  I have so many images to proof and will literally be months working away at the hundreds of images I took this day.  But I am loving every minute of it.  Just a few to share.

And I wanted to congratulate Deline and Gary.  See maternity photos below!  I got word she delivered a baby boy last night.  I can’t wait to meet him!   Congrats you two!

Sweet innocence.

Beautiful girls.  Both so active and I got great exercise photographing them.  It is nice when you can capture that brief moment of quiet.  Of peace.  Especially in a two and four year old.  It’s not always easy.  Shelley, hang  in there.  I am getting through these and will be in touch.  Thanks for letting me photograph your adorable girls.  They really are precious.
