Updating My Schedule
I thought I would take a minute to communicate where I am at with bookings and availability.
First though, I will be out of the office until next Wednesday, and will be answering emails next Thursday and Friday. If you are a client and need to get ahold of me try my business line and I will return your call.
On to my availability. As you can imagine this is one of the busiest times of year with people wanting images for Christmas, family shoots as well as a few baby planners on my plan. Soooo the quick rundown is….
September… completely full. Unless one of the babies don’t arrive on time and then I may have a last minute opening on a Saturday late in the month. I will post that if it happens closer to that date.
October…. this month is filling up fast. The first two weeks I am busy with a wedding, and some fall family shoots as well as a baby due. These are all hard to coordinate and do not allow me to take on much else. Sooo I am into the 3rd week of October for openings. I never know how the fall weather will be and obviously do not control the weather so I can’t guarantee any fall colors by this point. If you are still wanting to book a photo in October then I would encourage you to call as I only have a few spots left the 3rd and fourth week. After that it could likely be too cold for outdoor photos. But then kids don’t normally notice the cold do they!
November… my cutoff time is the 25th. I do not guarantee any photos back by Christmas if you have not held your session by this date. November is still fairly flexible but would likely have to be held indoors. I do not have a studio.
And a few to share of recent clients just because I love to share my photos…
I don’t only photograph kids see!
What a sweet puppy and sweet girls. I loved hanging out with these two.
O is growing up so fast and has been in my son’s class for the past two years. When she opens up and smiles for you she just shines. Dad needs to watch out!
M is a character and I found she reminded me of my own daughter. Always laughing and being silly. So much fun and she made me laugh alot.
Thanks you two for hanging out with me. You did great and I enjoyed it so much.

A picture of Marty without his belly. (See Sarah’s comment in the last post) What was I thinking not showing this guys oh so cute face. What an adorable couple and Marty, you had no belly to speak of! He really had to work to push it out to meet his pregnant wife. I kept saying, "come on you can push it out more then that". But nope!
So here is the oh so handsome Marty and his gorgeous wife Sarah. What a sweet couple and I am so excited to be working with you guys for the next year. Can’t wait to meet the new addtion. You two are going to make such amazing parents.
Talk soon.
No commentsLots of Babies and Babies to Be
I have been busy with alot of maternity/newborn clients. More then usual it would seem. I have booked more clients for these sessions lately then anything else. It is often based on referrals, lots of my clients telling their pregnant friends. The maternity/newborn spots fill fast however as I only book a limited amount each year.
I have to admit that I love to see the moms to be, with their belly’s and gorgeous curves, ready to make the leap into motherhood. Some for the first time, and some who are adding to an existing family. I get to document this wonderful time in their lives and then the excitement of a new life.
I take such pleasure in capturing this VERY fleeting time in their childs life. Oh, how I can remember my own little ones being this small, albeit sometimes a vague recollection. Having a son who just turned 8 and a daughter starting Kindergarten, I know that it is these types of newborn images, and captures of such a short stage of life, that permits us to more easily carry forward the memories with us. A stage so easily forgotten and yet, when captured, one that never can totally be taken away from us. Invaluable? Yes, I believe so. What value can one place on ones memories? I will often need to pull out my own pictures to remind myself of this stage in life. OR instead, holding one of these little ones is sure to bring back those wonderful memories of holding my own newborns and arriving home from the hospital with them. A time that couldn’t have been more freightening and amazing all at the same time. They are so small, so fragile and vulnerable, and yet all yours.
I love it and it is likely one of the main reasons I just love to do newborn sessions. All my parents have been so great, letting me hold and comfort their new precious ones, positioning them in such a way to achieve these types of shots. Some babies cooperate more then others of course. But then that is to be expected with such diverse little personalities. I still love doing them, even when they can take up to 3 or more hours. Yes, it is true that it can take that long to get the job done with little ones. But sooo worth it.
So I thought I would share some most recent sessions. Some from a recent newborn that I had. She was a dream and slept pretty much the entire time. Rebecca you and Ian are soooo lucky to have her. Congratulations. Your gallery will be up soon! I promise.

And one under their apple tree, on a hill overlooking the water. She was so good and never woke up.
Some gorgeous maternity clients due very soon! Can’t wait for the big day ladies. These put a smile on my face and I hope you enjoy them as much. I would love to hear from you. Such a quite blog in terms of comments! :) Hello? Anyone out there? :-) What if I say I won’t post anything here for two months unless everyone who visits leaves at least one comment? Hmmmm. Or if I have some kind of contest. Which I am considering doing. So let me hear from you. Something, anything. Cyberspace is a lonely place ya know.
Oh and I have my first wedding of the season this weekend. Wish me luck! I love them but man are they stessful to shoot. Weather is calling for sun though. woohoo!

I don’t do many weddings each summer and had decided I would only do one this summer. However after a few calls from girls that I had already had an acquaintance with as well as someone I ran into this past spring, it appears I am now up to three weddings this summer/fall. I will admit that I actually love to photograph weddings as they provide for so many venues, opportunities to capture wonderful emotion and "real life" which is what I truly love about photography. Yet, I only agree to a few each summer as I know with being a mom to two young children I am still not ready to commit that much time that is involved with shooting weddings.
I will see how these few go and perhaps I will eventually build the number that I agree to each year. At the moment I will probably proceed in booking weddings strictly on a referral only basis. I want to be sure that I will really mesh with the clients in terms of what I am offering and what they are looking for. I will take into account lighting situations of the venue they have chosen, for example the church, and reception area. I can use a speed-light (flash) with my photography but will attempt to arrange it so I can use natural light 99% of the time. Flash is not something I love to use however it definitely is needed at times and if used correctly, can be very effective for images, as well as necessary. I just prefer a nice window with some light and shadows.
In my wedding package I offer each of my couples an engagement shoot. I have found this to be extremely useful. For a few reasons. One being that I get to spend some time with the couple prior to the big day and get a feel for how they behave and interact in front of the camera. What their comfort level is. Some of us, myself included, aren’t always that natural or feel that comfortable in front of the camera. I tend to try and joke with my couples, trying to make them relax and feel like we are just hanging out and having fun. FUN! That is what it is all about. I am really excited about the three weddings I have coming up. One is smaller with a cool outdoor reception at a popular restaurant here in town. Thirty guests or so coming to the reception. Another wedding is much larger, with over 200 people with and OUTDOOR WEDDING, yes I said outdoors. Wooohooo! Gotta love that idea for a natural light photographer. And the other is a fall wedding, which I adore that time of year. Much nicer for me as I tend to run around alot and hot summer days aren’t always a joy to work in.
So I wanted to share a few of the images from my favorite couples of 2007! I had a blast with each session and strived to capture their relationship and closeness. I hope you feel that to.
Be prepared… there is lots of scrolling down required to see all of the images!
This was fun. Her idea. It is a street sign with Miles and Union. They are getting married and their last name will be Miles. Well his is already of course!
Can you tell I love doors! the more beat up the better.
I had fun guys. Looking forward to each of your weddings, which I will showcase some here of course. Since their a rarety. I hope you like these as much as I loved taking them.
Have a great long weekend and stay cool!
