Families

It is the season for sure to be photographing families.  I have 4 sessions this upcoming week and a Wedding on Saturday.  It is busier then I would normally choose to be but I am having fun with each session I shoot.

I am currently booked up now until Christmas.  Thought I would throw that out there in case you were wanting to book.  My focus for the winter will be those sessions that I can do inside.  Often those are maternity/newborn.  So if you are looking for those session for the new year please call and book asap as the spots tend to fill fast.  I typically only take one maternity/newborn plan a month but I may be able to swing a few more during the winter months.  I will be away at the end of January on a well deserved vacation with my husband to a romantic, warm getaway.  So that time slot is out but after January I will be taking more sessions on.

And for a few images of recent sessions.  Twin girls!  Wow were they busy and yet so sweet.  I can’t even begin to imagine the work it would take to keep care of twins.

And another great family with three beautiful girls.  Mom and Dad have pretty busy schedules so it took some work in getting a time that we could all make work.  The first session ended up on one of our very few rainy days we have had lately.  So instead of rescheduling we did a few inside.  I love these photos.  You really don’t need anything other then good light oh and I suppose it helps to also have a sweet subject with amazing curls, blue eyes and a quiet personality.

Img_3665  J. you are such a beautiful young lady inside and out.  Thanks for hanging out with me.

Img_4441_2I went back a few days later to take some outdoors.  This was taken during the evening hours when the light is the best.

O. had me working hard for an image of her.  She just shone when I got her on her own though.  But I think she figured I was being paid well so I better work for it.  She was your typical 4 year old full of energy and life and totally reminded me of my own little one.

See O. I got one of you!  Thanks!

And the youngest one.  What a doll!  She was just learning to walk and I literally got a few shots of her first few steps!  What a treasure.  S. was so happy, so relaxed and such a sweetheart.Img_4375bw_2 Img_4345bweb

Kim hang in there I am working on getting your images done.  To all my other extremely patient clients waiting for galleries, hang in there!  I promise I am working away as fast as I can.

89 DAYS!

Sample7  Until CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!

Can you believe it.  Wow.  It is so hard to believe that it is that close.  I absolutely love Christmas.  Even though I don’t love the cold of the winter, Christmas is my favorite holiday of the entire year.  I got married on December 28th because I wanted a Christmas wedding.  Some of my best childhood memories are those of Christmas morning, running down to the toys, the feeling of joy that Santa had visited, the extra large oranges and apples that my parents sought out to buy each year for us.  The nuts that we would crack open and eat during the holidays, and visiting my grandparents, where my grandfather always had a candy closet throughout the year, but boys was it stocked during the holidays.

When it comes around each year I love to plan and decorate, bake and shop for my kids.  The feeling it gives me is unlike any other.  I truly enjoy it.  And each year I find myself becoming closer in my faith.  We try and teach the kids the "true" meaning of Christmas.  We always buy for a child or two each year.  I want my children to realize how fortunate they are and that it isn’t about receiving (albeit hard for a 5 and 8 year old to understand) but about giving to others.

So I thought I would offer some beautiful Christmas cards for my clients this year.  There is definitely a cut off date for ordering these, check the details out below.

They really aren’t your typical Christmas cards are they?  They are beautifully designed and will have your custom text on them to ensure a personalized greeting.Sample1

It is all for this….

Our lives, here on earth.  The purpose we were put here for.  To love, and find love.  To be in fellowship with one another and to search out those indivduals who will add meaning to our lives.  And if we are lucky enough, to bring into our lives a kind of love, that by nature, our heart seeks out and yearns for.  I believe this is the purpose of life.  The reason that God has put us here.  We need to learn to grow, become more like him and without these amazing life experiences, the ones that literally change our lives, and how we forever see the world, we would continue to stagnate and cease to grow beyond our selfish beings.  There is nothing that makes us grow more in our lives then having children.  The experience of creating life, and having a baby is "to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body"  This saying soon becomes reality to those who have children and become a parent.  It is the natural progression of life and we only get one chance.  It it fragile and one that should be viewed with great respect and appreciation.

A few parenting quotes I love:

The guys who fear becoming fathers don’t understand that fathering is not something perfect men do, but something that perfects the man.  The end product of child raising is not the child but the parent.  ~Frank Pittman, Man Enough

The hardest part of raising a child is teaching them to ride bicycles.  A shaky child on a bicycle for the first time needs both support and freedom.  The realization that this is what the child will always need can hit hard.  ~Sloan Wilson

Whenever I held my newborn baby in my arms, I used to think that what I said and did to him could have an influence not only on him but on all whom he met, not only for a day or a month or a year, but for all eternity - a very challenging and exciting thought for a mother.  ~Rose Kennedy

And a sneek peak for my most recent clients.

Sarah’s little guy decided to come almost 3 weeks early.  I guess he knew what great parents he had waiting for him!

I will be posting your gallery soon guys.

People say that I do something to make my subjects more beautiful!  My reply is that I truly just get beautiful people.  I believe everyone is beautiful in their own way.

And another beautiful maternity.  This lady is as sweet as they come.  She has a soft spoken quite nature that just makes you feel instantly comfortable.  She just loves her daughter and you can tell she is amazing with her little one as you watch them together.

Thanks Shauna, I am working away at yours as well.

Love the shot of Mom and Dad in front of the window, the connection it shows.

OK, I do admit, Shauna is definitely a natural beauty.  I loved photographing her framily.

So very important

This may not be related to the photography part of my life but as a mother I couldn’t speak after watching this.  Having my own children, I just can’t even come to terms with this senseless loss.  Please heed this message, internalize it, burn it into your memory so you will never forget. Take a minute to watch it.  We all need to work to change this practice of getting behind a wheel intoxicated!  It is never worth it!

Recent Work

Thought I would share a few from a wedding I did a few weeks ago.  It was fun, as was this couple.  Congratulations you two and I am working away at your images.  Be patient and hang in there.

A rarity as I do so few weddings each summer.  But these two are so in love and I know they have many happy years ahead of them.  (click images for larger view)

This old shed was directly across from the church and I grabbed these two and told them to come with me.  The owner was watching and said "I didn’t realize it was photographic all these years"!   He’s never met me I guess.Img_8506aweb

Alina’s mother made her dress!  Isn’t it amazing.  I loved how simple it was.  She looked stunning.

Img_8788web And as we all know it can rain on the big day so I always discuss back up options for indoor shooting locations.  I told them how I had inquired at the Lord Beaverbrook art gallery to see if I could bring my couple there and that they had agreed.  Alina and James were so excited about the idea as it the place they had gone on their first date.  So fun. So we shot some amazing images inside and had so much fun doing it. I can’t wait to proof the rest of these.Img_8791

And a few detail shots.  Love taking these shots. Kermit and Miss piggy as their cake topper (there is a whole story around that of course).  I loved that they had such a small reception on the deck of Brewbakers restaurant.  It was completely fun and personal.  Just the way they wanted it.

And your welcome to leave comments on my wedding style if you like.  I don’t do many of them but I secretly enjoy doing a few each year.  I have one more to go and another one I did and will post some images soon (Julie and Mark hang in there).

Have a great week.
