Pluggin Away
Thought I would share a few recent images as I haven’t shared in a few days. I have been busy trying to edit images from previous sessions and starting to feel like I am making a dent.
Just some information. At the moment I am booked until after Christmas. I am not taking many sessions in January as I am gone the last week and I just know it will be a busy month recouping from the Holidays. Speaking of that, it is hard to believe that the time is almost here! Wow. Halloween tonight for my kids and then on to thinking about Christmas. Did I mention Christmas is my favorite time of year! It is and I need to start planning now! Ha!
So I present to you some of my most recent and youngest clients I have had the pleasure of photographing. A boy and a girl. I get so much joy from photographing! They were both a dream to work with, as well as the parents. I am always amazed at these little creatures and NEVER tire of holding them, cuddling them (yes I get to do that) and just spending some time with them. The only thing I do mind a bit is disturbing them. Yet, with little ones as young as these, within the first two weeks of life, they often don’t even notice you and all the squishy positions you put them into. It is natural for them and I would think anything would feel less squishy then the past nine months of their lives inside mom’s belly.
A birth announcement for baby N. Loved this little guy. He was a good sleeper. Well at times, right mom!
I love pictures of babies on Daddies arms. As you can see!
And I love that mom ordered this! Some people get my style and this mom and I really connect. She so get’s me and what I am about. This was probably my favorite image from the entire session. Look at his expression! Just priceless.
And I don’t just do naked baby shots. I love when we bundle them up tight and they sleep soundly.
And I love big sister. She was adorable, sat on my lap while mom fed baby, and asked me why I forgot the bubbles. I brought them to the first maternity session and you would think I was her hero. Then I went and forgot to bring them to the newborn session! What was I thinking? She kept asking for them and I felt like a boob. But I promise B. I will be by with some very soon to play. And I just got a message from mom that you aren’t feeling well! Sending you lots of well wishes little one. Get better soon. Candy and tricker treating are awaiting you.
My next youngest client was a girl. And what a doll. She slept practically the entire time. And she has a gorgeous older sister as well.
And some more images in Dad’s hands. This Dad had really big hands and there was no way she was not secure in them.
And the gorgeous family. Shauna I should have your gallery to you soon!
Thanks for looking.
4 commentsARE THEY HAPPY?
Ummm, I would say that is a definite yes.
I shot Julie and Marks wedding in August and haven’t stopped with session since then. I always tell my brides to expect awhile to get their images as it can take a long time to weed through and with my ongoing portrait business and a one person show, it can take me quite awhile to get them all proofed and to them.
I love these two kids. And yes, at age 38, I am officially allowed to call these 20 something "kids". They are, oh so wonderful, and very much in love. As I have said before, I don’t shoot many weddings each summer, due to the hours and work involved, and having a young family myself. So this summer I agreed to only three and enjoyed each one of them immensely. The reason I believe I enjoyed each one so much was because each of my wedding clients, especially the brides, really "got" my style and what I was about when it came to shooting their wedding. They were relaxed and just trusted me. That means a huge amount to me. I don’t do well with structure or posing, and although some posing is required with some wedding shots, I personally prefer to have most of my shots just capturing the day. The moments that really mean so much to a person when looking back. A "line up and say cheese" really doesn’t speak to what the emotion and day were like, but images such as these, that show exactly how much fun these two have together, are truly the kind I love.
It is one of the things I noticed about Mark and Julie from the very first moments I spent with them, that they just loved to have fun together and can just look at each other and start smiling and laughing. It is wonderful to watch them together.

And you can’t beat emotion like this. When he first saw her, I turned to see his emotion and shot quickly, getting this. Priceless!
his adoration for Julie, his bride, so obvious here once she reached him.
The fun, and laughs even carried through the ceremony. It was light hearted and full of love!
And then more fun with the wedding party. Love this jumping shot and they did it so well on my count! Even Emma the 5 year old flower girl gave it a great go!
Another reason I agreed to do this wedding. It was outdoors! Natural light photographer, ummm yeah, perfect conditions for me. Under a big old white tent, think huge softbox! It was great for lighting conditions. and the location was amazing down by the water.
And a few that I have proofed and think really show how much they adore each other. If that hasn’t already been amazingly obvious!
Thanks you two for choosing me to photograph your wedding. The stars aligned and we were all meant to be! :) You are an amazing couple with an amazing future in store!
Thankful!!!!!!!!!!
Indeed there is just so much to be thankful for. As well for all of you out there, I am sure. The fact that we live in a safe country full of so many opportunities and bountiful blessings is just one reason to be thankful this weekend. I, like so many, get caught up in "wanting" this and that, while totally losing sight of all the things I already have in my life. Most importantly my family, my children and my wonderful husband. The other stuff is just that, "stuff". Without my family there would be no meaning to the rest of the things in my life. To lose someone you love will quickly put the focus right back on where it should be, where it is intended to be. Onto those people that are in your life that make living worth while.
So this weekend I found myself looking at the Bride and Groom, who’s wedding I photographed, with a new sense of vision. Being inspired by the life that they have before them and the love they share between them. I was inspired today thinking of the newborn child that I photographed earlier this week, that I was able to hold and capture in his innocence of life. The future that will be afforded him because of his parents and how much they will love and care for him throughout his life.
I was also inspired by the catalogue I received from World Vision last week, an organization which allows us to support a child in Africa, a small donation of only $35 a month which allows a young boy, Manuel Phiri, to attend school and have a better life in a country full of poverty and despair. His picture has a home on our fridge, where I can see him daily and reflect on him and his life in Africa. Of how very different his life is from ours, from that of my own children. One look at his picture manages to quickly put this Thanksgiving holiday into perspective. It really is that simple. And I hope that I can continue to carry with me that feeling of inspiration and thankfulness that I felt so strongly this past weekend.
When I received my World Vision catalogue earlier this week and began to look through it and realized how many things one person can donate with various degrees of funds, I decided then that I would donate all of my profits from my Christmas card sales to this cause. There are so many things I can choose from such as…
A donkey for $300 to help a families with their hard labor and can carry food and water and pull carts for these families, lessening their burdens.
for a small donation of $55 I can buy 2 hens and a rooster. Think protein and nutrients.
Pigs, and Sheep. Supplies for a classroom $50 for an entire classroom! stock a medical clinic for $100. new clothing for 25 children $25. The list goes on and on. It is just such a no brainer to do this. And I am hoping to have your help to do this by simply buying these gorgeous Christmas cards and be involved in this great cause.
I will give my present clients a chance to purchase these beautiful Cards (see below for post of card samples) and if I don’t meet my goal I will then consider opening it up to others to send me their image to order these cards for themselves for Christmas. We will see how things go.
Hoping everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. I know my family enjoyed ourselves and had a wonderful time outside playing in this gorgeous weather.
A few from today. We never did get the leaves raked up! But oh what fun they had!
and my kids are truly the toughest to get a picture of. Typical of a photographers child. But I made them sit for a few and managed to get this one. Having it printed for my house this week.
typical shot of her bugging him. He hates it when she tries to kiss him. Exactly why she does it! Ha!
And one of me! Eeeek. My son took this. Kid you not! He shot this in full manual, I metered for the light, but he shot this with an f stop of 2! That means the he had to land focus on my eye as nothing much else would be in focus if he didn’t. It isn’t easy to shoot wide open but man he is becoming quite good with the camera. A future photography assistant perhaps?
Have a Great Week and God Bless!
