Time for a Contest!!

Yes, with taking time off this past few months I have had time to get some much needed rest and new ideas formulating in my mind.  I won’t share them all on this blog post…but I will tease you with one of them.  You can watch for a new website for WEDDINGS within the next few months!  Yes, there I said it. Weddings.  I have always struggles with the choice of whether to offer wedding photography in the future.  So with alot of inner soul searching I have come to realize that I do really love to photograph weddings and now that the kids are getting a bit older I will be taking on a few more each summer.  Ummm, nothing to brag about, but perhaps more then two or three a summer… and max probably of 5 a year!  LOL.  More on this to come.

And now for a CONTEST!  I truly love to do what I do and I have the most wonderful clients who put up with my crazy ideas and outgoing, ummm shall we say chatty attitude.  :)  I have met so many wonderful people during 2008 and wanted to celebrate with a image contest.

And since Valentines is coming I am going to share the LOVE and give away some prizes.  What would a contest be without them?

 The Winner will receive:

A $150 gift certificate from Rankin Photography

A small mini album to carry with them of their session images once the session is completed.

2nd prize:

A $75 gift certificate from Rankin Photography

a $25 print credit upon completion of their session.

3rd prize

A $50 gift certificate from Rankin Photography

All prizes must be redeemed in the 2009 calendar year.   The prizes are transferable and the booking date is subject to availability.

Also, when your friends and family vote, their names will be entered to win a free session with me as well.  So get them to the voting page to vote for your image.

So how do you vote?  You need to go to the contact page on this blog, look at the top of the blog “contact us” and fill it out with the letter of the image you are voting for.  One vote per email please ( I will be checking :).  I am pretty sure I managed to get one image from each session but if I missed you let me know asap.  I tried to ensure everyone got a chance at winning.

How to win?  The one with the most votes will win.  So make sure you send the word out to your family and friends.  Send them the blog link and tell them to vote for you.   It will be fun to see the results and I will be announcing them next Friday, February 20th.

Also if you want to be added to my newsletter you can send me an email and let me know so I can add you to the list.  One of my new years resolutions is to try and stay in touch a bit better via newsletters, but not so much to be annoying!  :)

If you are a regular visiter to the blog and don’t know the people in the photograph that is ok, feel free to send in your vote as well.  The more the merrier.

Ok, so here are the images to vote on…  (lots to choose from)

A Prayer

For Kelly and her Family.  I was informed today that Kelly Clements passed away this past Friday.

new-image.JPG

CLEMENTS-CURTIS, KELLY DON The passing of Kelly Don Clements-Curtis of Hamtown Corner, NB, wife of Dustin Curtis, occurred on Friday, February 6, 2009 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 5, 1981 in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of Alan Jones and Heather Clements. Kelly created a chat group on Facebook for couples with special needs children to help those who were experiencing similar challenges. Her passion was photography; she loved the outdoors and camping. Kelly was a wonderful mother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She will be sadly missed.

Kelly and I had scheduled a session before Christmas but her daughter became ill with the flu.  Unfortunately we never got a chance to reschedule and my heart is sad for that.

My prayers go out to Kelly’s husband, children and all of her family.  May You find peace during this very difficult time.

  A SONG FOR YOU KELLY

And a Poem…

See through the window,

Look at the light,
Smell the sweet flowers,
See the sky bright,
Shed not the tears,
As you feel I have gone,
Love never leaves,
And my spirit lives on.

Talk of me often,

Your words will be heard,
I’ll be by your side,
As swift as a bird,
Love life and laugh,
Together we’ll be,
On the right path,
As our spirits fly free.

some inspiration

I thought I would post something today.  A little different however…. on my other passion….decorating.  I want to make some changes and updates to my house.  Namely paint color and some new furniture.  I can’t seem to stick with one style.

I see something one day and I am convinced I want to have that “feel” in my house, then I see another image and I’m really drawn to it.  I struggle between wanting clean lines and muted colors in my house with wanting some bright vibrant colors and rooms.

I know that I love Sarah Richardson’s style, and Candice Olsen. Two of my favorite Canadian designers.

Here are a few images I had put in my “decorating” folder on my computer.  And yes… I still live in the NOW, but it is ok to have dreams and plan a bit.  As long as you don’t let it consume you!  :)

I recently did an art center in the basement for my daughter.  But I have to say her’s pales in comparison to this neat one.  I think this is from Pottery Barn.  Love that store.

I really would like a sectional for my living room someday.  I like the clean lines of this one.

And I love all different fabrics.
