FATHERS DAY IS COMING!! A MINI SESSION IS COMING!

Just in time for fathers day Rankin Photography is offering a “MOMMY AND ME” session.  We all know that it can be hard to buy for the Dad who has everything, but all Dad’s certainly love to have images of their most special people in their lives!  So what a great Father’s Day gift to give him.

I am sooo excited to be partnering with the best children’s store in Fredericton, Room to Remember Kids in downtown Fredericton.  This will be my first mini session which is designed to be short and sweet with an amazing package to give to Dad.  You will also receive a personalized gift certificate from Room to Remember Kids to use at their store when you book a session time.  If you arrive a bit early for your session you can take some time to browse their amazing new kids store.

I am not sure how many of you know that I use to scrapbook and was, to put it lightly, obsessed with it for at least a few years!  I was published in Memory Makers magazine quite a few times and won Hall of fame for Creating Keepsakes magazine in 2005 (a big deal in the scrapping world, ha!).  Once I turned my focus on photography my time was short and the scrapbooking venture came to a halt.  Being a person who loves to journal and tell a story, as well as playing with glue and paper, there are many days that I miss it and long to return to the simple pleasure of putting together a scrapbook page.  To me it was my outlet for art at the time having always been a person who needed to have some form of art in their lives.  So today, I find myself reaching for my scrapbooks on the shelf and wanting to reread some of my thoughts from the past and look at the pictures.  I sat with Mary Jean and Keagan this morning and read them a few pages.  They seemed mildly interested!  Ha.  But I hope that some day they will come to appreciate the gift that these pages were meant to be to them from my heart.

It is really hard to imagine that Mary Jean turns 7 years old today.  The time is indeed flying by.  So i thought I would share a few of the pages I did for her when she was little.   This one is a few days before she was to turn 3 years old.

If your interested, the journalling reads…

YOU are about to turn three in a few days. Has it really been that long? Then I look into your eyes, the change is obvious. The physical changes, a bright, loving young girl, embracing life and all it brings. you complete me, us, our family.
We love you!

And another page…

I did alot of hidden journalling on my pages and on this one the journalling is about being our baby…

You are our baby and our lives have been made so much better since you have arrived. While you are the last of our children and usually endings are sad, you make this ending just perfect. You have stepped into the second child position without complaint. You have accepted the hand me down crib, the not so new toys, the stained bibs and the well worn baby books. Even some hand-me-down boy clothes have come your way and you seem take it all in stride. With my age and my health you will be our last child and so we probably hold on to you just a bit tighter when we rock you at night praying for you not to grow up so fast. You have helped with the addition of more gray hair, you have quickened our step and restored our vision of what youth is about. You manage to introduce so much humor into our lives each day and have made us into more mature and durable parents. So when you get older and your hair begins to show the gray and your own children tower over you, you will still be OUR baby!

and this one.  I love this image of her.  The journalling is about how she was at a stage where she asked us all the time “Am I beautiful”… to which we began to answer… “yes you are and your smart to”!

and I was often requested as a designer to do pages for planned themes in the magazines, so this one was a monochromatic page request from Memory Makers and I had to use ribbon in an unusual way.

And my daughter this morning.  The big 7 years old.  We put balloons in her room tied to her new “bride” barbie so when she woke up she would see the balloons.

Then when she was helping me make her cupcakes for her party tomorrow.

in all chaos

quote for the day.

“In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order.”

Carl Jung

I like to think this is true.  I have been under the weather the past 4 days or so with a bad cold.  In bed most of the last two days being kept company by my daughter, MJ who also has it.  But I am happy to say that I think we are finally both coming around.

I have a busy next few days this week with  my little girl turning 7 years old this Thursday.  I still can’t believe it.  The party is Friday and the planning and buying of party favors and give aways are under way.  We both ventured out from the house today to go and pick out a few things.  She is having a small party with only three friends so we decided on a combination of a girly fashion show, runway shoot with mom as the photographer (imagine!), followed by some yummy food and cake.  Then into P.J’s for some popcorn, games and a movie (time permitting).

Here are a few pictures of my girl in my bed where we spent the past two days being sick together, cuddling and watching t.v.

And one that my son took of the two of us tonight.  Not the best technically so i played with it and added a quote… ” I carry your heart with me… I carry it in my heart.”  Is this not the truth of all mothers and children.  We all carry a small piece of their heart inside us.

Have a good week.
