The Gift that can mean the World
Someone called me the other day as they had heard that I may know more about the act of donations regarding a goat, or chicken through a charitable organization. I gave her the name of the organization that we sponsor a child through called “World Vision”. We have been sponsoring a child for 3 years now and it has to be one of the most rewarding things we do as a family. To know that this child can go to school because we sponsor him each month. We get his school report cards sent to us to see how he is making out along with pictures he draws and updated images. He has grown so much in the past few years… and the kids love to hear his favorite things to do. Granted they are very different then their own favorite things to do.
I think it also provides my children with an insight into how other children live in the world. Our sponsored child lives in a hut where he helps to sweep out the floor with a hand made broom each day. He faces constant threat of disease and still wears such a bright smile on his face dispite his living conditions. I pray for him often and believe that it was something we were meant to do. I wish I could sponsor many more children like him. Since I can’t I wanted to pass along the information again this year and the link to the World Vision Website. There are so many other options to “give” if you can’t do a monthly sponsor. A few years ago I chose to donate all my Christmas profits towards this organization due to how much I believe in and appreciate this organization. There are one time donations such as mosquito nets, or donating a chicken to a family. Your thinking “a chicken”? Not much to us perhaps, but to have fresh eggs and protein every day for one family in a under-developed country is life saving.
Go and check this out. And if your heart calls to donate then do it. I promise that you will feel the gift in your heart as much or even more then the child or family receiving it! After all, it is the time of year for gift giving and selfless acts.

And an image. What is a post without an image.
An image I took that has graced the winter getaway brochure for Rodd’s Mill River Resorts in PEI.
My daughter inside the bouncy castle. I guess it isn’t hard to believe she is now in competitive gymnastics when you look at the image of her doing the splits.
Sharing a Session
A wonderful session with two or I mean three wonderful clients. I had the pleasure of photographing Julie and Mark’s wedding and then I got to meet Mr. O after he was born and now one year later. They are a young, trendy couple who decided they would trust me when I suggested a downtown session. Well… I can honestly say we have not had a colder morning since this day in October when we met to photograph Mr. O. Wow was it cold. So luckily we were able to pop into a store Julie use to work at and warm up then take advantage of their decor and large front window to grab some images.
We walked and played and then stopped to have a treat. What a great morning. Thanks guys. And Julie said it would be ok to share her slideshow with you.
Oh YUM!! A sweet happy cookie for a happy, beautiful boy!
Mr. O is turning one. His slideshow…
