Booking Your Session
If you would like additional information on pricing or openings for upcoming session times, please call me at 506-447-7915 or email me at srphotos@nb.sympatico.ca
Being a photographer with young children, I am very fortunate to be able to work part-time so that I may be with my family more often. As a result of my half-time schedule, my availability is limited and my openings tend to fill up quickly. If you are considering booking a session, it is best if you contact me a few months in advance to ensure availability.
Read through this post that talks about my schedule and how to be put on a booking list if you are wanting a few months down the road.

What to expect?
When you book a session with me, you can expect to be able to be yourself and have a relaxed time, in your home or on location. I find my sessions to be like a play date where I get to enter your world for a few hours to capture some wonderful moments in your family’s life. If you are looking for a more formal, sit down family portrait then I am most likely not the best choice of a photographer to meet your needs. I strive to capture images that convey my casual style and my galleries will provide you with a good idea of my style and approach.
My sessions typically involve kids smiling, laughing, playing and running around a park. I want them to be able to just be themselves and do “their thing”. I work better when parents trust me and allow their kids to be kids. Asking them to sit or directing them too much never lends itself well to my style. Playing and engaging with them; being the parents you are and letting them be the kids you know, will , in the end, deliver the best results.
When I photograph my own kids, I never ask them to look at me or ask them to smile. I have learned that it is the the child’s unique personality and true spirit that I long to capture. Full belly laughs, running, jumping or simply a child’s quiet nature are the moments that I love to photograph. Often these images, do not involve them even looking at the camera. So relax, have fun and just be yourself.
What should I wear?
Many of my clients ask what they should wear or have their children wear during a session.
Maybe we should start with what not to wear! Here are some hints:
- Patent shoes! I prefer bear feet.
- Dress clothes- I prefer jeans or t-shirts.
- Save the white dress shirts and suits for another day. Unless, we are photographing a corporate head shot.
- No fru fru- i.e. big bows, or lace. Instead think, clean, simple, casual.
- Stockings, high heels- nah, never a great idea if we are walking in the woods or chasing kiddos.
- No LOGOS and overly bold patterns- the focus should be You and not your clothes.
- Khakis and white shirts do not scream “fun”.
Do!
- Think fun, try and coordinate, check out GAP ads and Children’s Place.
At your session, you will most likely find me in a t-shirt and jeans. I love bare feet, if the weather permits but a good pair of runners work for me as well. The key is to dress so that you are relaxed and comfortable. That’s it - that’s all.
Newborns?
If you are expecting a baby and want to book a maternity/newborn or a newborn session is it important you call early, preferably during your pregnancy. The newborns on my website are mostly 2 weeks and younger. Due to the scheduling care required for newborns, I choose to reserve only a few spots each month in order to be flexible with these time slots. Maternity sessions are not presently offered on a stand alone basis. You can, however, choose from our maternity/newborn session packages.
Weddings?
With the large commitment involved in photographing weddings, I tend to photograph a limited number of weddings each year. Usually no more then three to four in the summer/fall. If you are wanting more information on my wedding rates please contact me early.
I want to book a Session, What next?
You can find my session fees on my website under the “session/pricing” section. Session fees are priced based on the number of individuals being photographed. I have a few options available for you to choose from depending on the type of shoot you are looking for and hours required. If you are unsure of which session would best suite your needs please feel free to email me with your request and we can discuss your options on the phone. I will also send you a full price list after your initial contact.
Regular portrait sessions are not booked more then three months in advance. If the time you are requesting is beyond three months from today then you may contact me to have your name put on a “contact list” and I will contact you closer to your requested session date, typically two months in advance, to confirm your session time and date. This does not pertain to weddings, or maternity/newborn sessions. Please call as soon as possible to ensure your time and date for these bookings as I have limited availability.
