Busy- but love it {Fredericton Photographer}

Now that the weather is getting nice and the days are warmer the photo shoots tend to get more frequent.  I have to say I love it after a slower winter time.  Getting outdoors is so much fun.

I had a great week photographing twins, a sweet girl and her dog and a wonderful family.  Stay tuned for those images.

Since Lisa and her family have now seen all of their images I thought it would be fair to show a few more from their session.  I can’t tell you how beautiful this family is!  inside and out!  And wonderful to work with.

A collage to show off a few from the session.  I told you Mom is gorgeous!

Letters to your children- {Fredericton Photographer}

I know I sometimes post things off the topic of photography but I try to maintain a blog that showcases my clients as well as who I am.  When my children were young, a very large part of who I was involved scrapbooking my memories.  I adored creating art, the paper, glue and ability to put it together, adding words and stories to make it a beautiful piece of art or memory for my child.

Since beginning my photography business the task of recording written memories and pages for my children have admittedly waned.  I miss it dearly and want to try and reintroduce it into my life in some way.  Scrapbooking, however, is much too daunting of a task for me at the moment and finding this site of Bev’s seems to provide an answer to the balance I am looking for.  Her site truly inspires and excited me in jump starting this.

I adored reading through her posts and plan to frequent Bev’s site often.  A photographer herself she has a wonderful blog named FRIDAY’S LETTERS and it is intended to

fridays-letters.jpg

help us begin the process of recording our thoughts to our children with a letter each friday.

Go check it out.  I know I will try and make an effort to visit, and answer the little questions she poses in the form of letters for my children.  I hope I can give myself permission and time to do this.  My children are worth it and I think it is a form of therapy for me. :-)

I will try taking some pictures that relate to my letter as well.  What a fun project for us mom’s or dad’s.  Let me know if you try this out and how you make out with it!

Happy Friday!!

One Lucky Mom! - Fredericton New Born Photographer

Since I will be leaving for a family trip to the rockies tomorrow I thought I better post a few images for a sneak peek for one special mother!  I had so much fun hanging out with Lisa and her kids.  Mom looked amazing for having a new 8 day old little girl.  And what a beautiful little girl she was.  She was perfect, ate, slept, let me take a ton of images of her.  And she is one lucky little girl with amazing older and beautiful siblings!

Welcome to the world miss K.  You are truly blessed with a beautiful family and one special mom.

Happy early Mothers Day to all your wonderful Mom’s out there!  I wish you lots of love and family time during your special day!

I said they were beautiful.  Look at those amazing eyes and curls!

img_7789.jpg

She let me put her in all sorts of things.  What a good girl!

Love how curly she was!

And sibling shots are usually not something that is easy to get or achieve.  Especially with a 4 year old.  But wow,  they were so patient and cooperative.

And while I was walking through the kitchen I spotted this really cool salad bowl.  Of course I had to use it!!!

You Mommies out there… if this doesn’t get your baby urges going, I’m not sure what will!!

A few awesome MOM QUOTES!

“A mother understands what a child does not say.”

A mother is not a person to lean on, but a person to make leaning unnecessary.  — Dorothy Canfield Fisher

HAPPY EARTH DAY

This morning was a fun morning, with a focus on earth day.  My daughters class is ensuring they take “litter free” lunches and they were to also bring in recycled items to build an art piece with.  It is wonderful that the schools are focusing on this but we have to ensure we look each day at what we can do to help this world we live in to be a sustainable, healthy environment for our kids.  The future is theirs but what it will look like depends on what we do today.  So do your part each day.  Recycle as much as you can, run the water less, compost your food, just pick one thing and begin to do it.  Soon it will become second nature.

To highlight today I wanted to spotlight one of my young clients who is graduating this year and has done more for the environment then most people put together.  He is also the recipient of the Toyota Earthday Scholarship as a result of his hard work for the environment.

img_7688bw.jpg

I asked his father to write a bit about Jack and his accomplishments.  I was incredibly impressed.

“Jack has a love for the environment and has been involved in conservation activities since he was very young, cleaning streams and trails and planting trees. Since 2004, he has been committed to helping to re-establish a native tree species (the bur oak) in the Saint John River Valley. Jack now leads the group and they have planted over 600 trees in and around Fredericton and over 100km both up and down the river valley from Fredericton. His group has produced a brochure to help spread the word and they have made many presentation at schools and community groups. Jack has also presented the bur oak project in Ottawa, Sweden, Japan and the United States. Jack is currently working on a Youth Accord with youth from 10 other countries. It has now been translated into 14 languages and he will be part of a group presenting the Youth Accord and signatures to world leaders at COP 10 to be held in Handa, Japan later in October of this year.”

I can only hope to have my son turn out as concientious and as caring as this young man.

Congratulations Jack!!  You show us how despite age or geographical location, each of us can contribute to making this earth a better place to live!

Gymastics- MY DD {Fredericton Photographer}

Sorry about two posts in a row about my daughter.  But I just had to share her first gymnastics competition and some photos.  Yes, I’m a proud mamma.  She did great and she was surprising well at managing her nerves.  I know that she had a blast and truly enjoys this wonderful sport.  The time and effort, dicipline and commitment it takes to do this will certainly serve her well as she grows.

A few images of my daughter.  She is in the entry level competitive program and travelled to Miramichi this past weekend to compete.

Do you know what a camera is? {Fredericton Photographer}

“A mirror with a memory.”  Thank you for camera’s and memories.

She is going to be eight years old one month from today!  My heart weeps for her innocence and wishes to hold onto it just awhile longer.

My heart sings at the promise that tomorrow brings.

The purpose she has here on earth, what each day will bring to her life and what she will take from each moment.

She was today, she was tomorrow, she was the faintest scent of a flower.

Rabbit VS Resurrection

Just before easter last year, my daughter who had just arrived home from school and was playing on the floor turned to me and asked “Are you the easter bunny”?  Very likely a result of hearing rumors at school.

img_6693bw.jpg

I was a bit surprised since she was only in grade one and so I asked her why she wanted to know, not really wanting to admit the truth quite yet.  She looked at me and said “Mom just tell me, I really want to know”.  With a strong faith in god and always having emphasized the “true” meaning of Easter I decided to fess up and admit the truth to her.  She smiled and said “that’s ok” and proceeded to play.  She was silent for a few minutes, pondering the now realization of there being no easter bunny.  A few minutes passed and she looked up at me with this surprised, accusatory look and said “are you the tooth fairy too?”.  She is too smart for her own good and definitely inquisitive when it comes to life.  So this year we can enjoy easter for all the reasons we hold dear yet still have fun with our egg hunts and our yummy chocolate.  Perhaps with just a bit less focus on the big furry bunny.

This is a hilarious video to watch.  Make sure the kiddos aren’t in the room as it is a spoiler for those who still believe in the Big Bunny.  :)
